MISS KEYS

here is Alicia Keys looking oh so stunning in her new video teenage love affair, hope you all enjoy it, its different from all otha videos, very original

"Teenage Love Affair"- personal favourite from the "As I Am" album

Robyn

An artist that I'm liking right now is Robyn. She's a refreshing change to the same old crap that everyones doing. She dares to be different, to stand out from the crowd and thats what I like about her. She always comes with something weird and quirky but she always pulls it off.
Watch the vid for her track 'Konichiwa Bitches' and you'll see what I mean.

'In the North Pole I'll ice you son lol'

Solange gets her shine on!

It's old news that Solange is trying to pursue a career in the music industry (think back to the Fighting Temptations album soundtrack) but she has actually released her new single "I Decided" on the USA version of iTunes now. If you haven't heard this song already I recommend you do. It's unlike anything else and she's defiantly not trying to be her sister, it is very different to Beyonce's stuff. Oh, and it's produced by the very talented Pharrell! It doesn't have Neptune's trademark "spacey" sound but it's still destined to be a hit. Looks like it's Kelly, Michelle, and Solange's time to step out of Bey's shadow.

Other blogs have been cussing her yellow "clown face" aswell, but I think the makeup is a good look on her, atleast it's creative.

Weekly Throwback

Hi people! This week I'm doing this feature thanks to Karma(if you want me to replace her just let me know... haha just messing!).

Originally I was gonna post a really old classic, but this song fits the bill. Destiny's Child No No No, the REMIX! Yes yes, birth on the year 1997! lol. I use to love this song, and honestly I can still listen to it. I have so many nice memories attached to this song, thanks to my older sis I have inherited a pretty good ear for music lol. I can remember me singing the No no part as a little kid (probz 8 years old) dancing around. I am actually emotionally scarred though as I can recall my mom telling me to stop "warbling", I think I was tryna do a Beyonce, like stretching out the notes LOL.. Im unable to sing properly in public now!

Anyway, enough of my life story! Sit back and enjoy this song, and I KNOW you'll be turning the volume up to grab a hairbrush to sing infront of the mirror.

Amerie is free

So Amerie has officialy 'severed ties' with Columbia records. Thats just fancy talk for saying she got dropped. I'm not surprised either i don't know where she was going with her latest album 'Because i love it.' It was rubbish there's only like 2 good songs on there and it didn't even get released in the U.S. I can't believe how low the quality of music went coz her first two albums are good 'Why don't we fall in love is a classic' as - Lovehate would agree- and the Ludacris remix took it to the next level. Anyway she is now in talks to sign with Def Jam so hopefully we can hear some better music from her in the future.

"Pretty pretty rickaaay RICKEY"

Guess what ladies (and guys- if you swing that way!) "Pretty" Ricky are back with a new member. I wasn't really much of a fan but I just thought I'd let you guys know. Since the main singer Pleasure left he has now been replaced by Ambition/4 play. As if these bunch of sex-obsessed guys weren't enough you now gotta add this "4 play" to the mix (pictured 2nd from the right by the way). I am actually in a bitchy mood today, so forgive me in advance lol, but seriously what is up with the one on the end on the right. He looks like a miniature Ne-yo with that hat and pose. And DON'T get me started on the fool in the white lol. Those glasses/goggles that he's wearing.. -shudder-. I'm done chatting crap for today! lol.

Mariah vs Mariah

You may think we're becoming Mariah crazy over here at neverxmind blogspot, but what can I say, the diva seems to be everywhere. Now, don't get mad peeps, I'm not knockin her hustle but don't you think Mariah has changed quite a bit over the years. She's still pretty either way but I actually thinks she looks better in her PRE-diva days, big curly hair and all. Fresh-faced! Au Naturale! Ok.. I'ma stop but you get the point I'm making. I'm taking it back to our previous posts, but do celebrities really have to change their image to make it big? I'm not saying this is what MC has done, 'cause you know considering the difference in fashion from 1990-'08 theres bound to be a change! You can already see this with Alicia Key's new "sexed" up appearance (then again it's not overwhelming because shes very classy), even Amerie, poor Amerie who's dropped off lol.

I guess we gotta face it. Sex sells. I'll leave you folks with wise words from Erykah Badu (if u aint heard of her hang ur head in shame!) on how to survive this industry.

"Create ur own publicity, do some hoooe shit" LOL. Love her sarcasm.

MTV BASE welcomes 10 years of success

This channel is popular amongst the British youth, especially those interested in black culture, and has appealed to us since 1999- the first broadcast. MTV Base has been successful in presenting us with the hottest "urban" music (whatever that means.. lol) around. I never quite understand why they called it urban, but you get what I mean, music of black origin. Trevor Nelson is the main presenter on the channel, aww bless his shiny cue-ball head, and I must admit he's done a great job. Apparantly 170-180 videos are played a day, and I'm hoping most of them aren't effin Soulja Boy with his friggin crank that shite!

Anyhows, I'm wondering if MTV Base will still continue to be successful since the (USA originated) BET channel has arrived. Only time will tell!

Teedra Moses

I don't know about you guys but I am unbelievably frustrated that Teedra Moses doesn't get the recognition she deserves! I mean like HELLO.. the girl can sing, her lyrics actually MEAN something, and she doesn't put out the usual crap that alot of RnB artists seem to be doing right now. Infact.. she hasn't had the chance to put out anything at all. If you're not aware of this already, she has been dropped by her record label which is such a shame.

Me being an avid listner and fan of Teedra (aswell as Karma) we want to know what the fook is going on! For the past year- NO JOKE, her official site says her new album Young Lioness will be out soon. I've looked on her myspace and it says the release will be '08, but no date, no month, nothing else! Unfortunately, the way things are going looks like Teedra will be an ancient "Lioness" before her new album drops..

E=JH²

Listen everyone, plz go and buy Mariah Carey's new album (E=MC²) half of the album reminds me of back in the day mariah, it's jus has a nice feeling to it, therz onli about 2/3 songs that aint relli aint that but the rest (13/14) is absolutly good, especially "I Stay In Love" and "For The Record" those are my favourites, i kno dat LovexHate wrote a review but this album is so fab and i cant stop replaying "I Stay In Love" wat a heart felt song. U gotta hear for ya self seriously. This song made me feel like im E=JH², sums up da whole of me. ( i also stay in love).

["I Stay In Love", i give mariah a 5star rating for this song]

Weekly Throwback

This week I thought I'd bring you Fu-gee-la from the Fugees. This is taken from their album 'The Score'. Enjoy the video. You know what I was wondering though what happened to their big reunion? They had one song and then they was gone! Actually forget that what happened to Lauryn Hill? She aint right these days man.

Ne-yo / Miguel- Let's Just Be

This isn't exactly a review but "Let's Just Be" is a song by Ne-yo circulating around the net that is rumoured to be off his next album. As much as I love Ne-Yo's music I just can't listen to it the same way anymore, the image of him without a hat (look above) has been permanently imprinted in my brain. Lol but na, that doesn't take away from his musical talent. Apparently he's given the song to another artist by the name of Miguel. The song is SO sweet, it's about a type of guy with a mentality that every girl would want. Both versions are good, so who knows whether it'll actually make it on Ne-yo's next album..

Here's Miguel's version. This guys beyond sexy. Check out some of his other songs.

Mariah Carey - E=MC2

The moment we've all been waiting for is finally here. Despite being a fan since nursery days (thanks to my parents..) I'm a little disappointed. Upon initial listening the album is alright though.

The stand-out tracks for me are "I'll Be Lovin You Long Time" it's a mid-tempo feel good track that makes you envisage sunny days and bright clouds lol. I like how MC provides her own background singing and it kind of overlaps (can't explain, listen for yourself), I'm also liking "Love Story", "O.O.C" and "4real4real" with it's catchy lyrics.
Oh and "Cruise Control" stands out to me, for the wrong reasons though.. what is up with Mimi putting on a Jamaican accent, I know she has a bit of black in her but C'MON now! LOL.

I'm not liking "I Stay In Love", halfway through it Mariah must've run out of lyrics or somethin because she fills in the gap with an uncreative "na nan na na"- I'm not no hater.. but channelling Britney right now GIMME GIMME MORE! To me it seems like a generic pop-love song. I feel mean for saying this but the song "Bye Bye" is just so boring, the idea behind it (the loss of loved ones either by death, parting ways etc) is sweet but it doesn't do much else for me.

So my overrall comment for this is the albums ok. Maybe it'll take a few more listens for me to warm up to it, but I dunno something seems bland about the album, like I said it's ok, but much more is expected from Mariah.

B to call it a day?

According to the NY Daily News Beyonce's third album may be her last. The follow up to 2006's B'day is scheduled to drop later this year or early 2009. A track rumoured to be on it has already leaked check out 'beautiful nightmare'. Anyway a source close to the singer has said that once she is done with music she will concentrate on being a music scout for her hubby Jay-z 's (aka Jigga, Hova, and Mr.Potato Head lol) new music label The Carter Music Group.
I don't believe this for a second everyone knows that Beyonce/Sasha is INCAPABLE of sitting down lol

Robot Romance

Picture this. A world where life-like robots and humans live life in harmony- and even have relations. The sexual sort. NOW, don't think I'm crazy because apparantly this is all schedueled for 2050. Yeah that's right, an iRobot world coming in the future.

I actually read this foolishness in the Metro (newspaper on the bus for cheap students.. lol).
One woman in reply to this went as far as saying :

"They will be uninhibited, free of STDs and probably much better in bed than most men"

They're even in the process of creating robots with nerve senses in their "nipples" LOL. That's too funny. I don't wanna live to see a world like that! It's just weird!! I think I'll be around 60 then so I probably won't understand what's goin on anyhows!

Leona Lewis

Our very own UK star (born in london) is starting to break the US by entering in the billboard charts at no.1, which is a break through for a UK artist since 1987 (Kim Wilde). Since winning the X-Factor in 2006 leona is now showing us what she can do with a gift like singing and where it can take her and she deifnitelty is. Miss Lewis has now appeared on a numerous amount of shows within the US (Oprah Winfrey show, Ellen Degeneres show, Jimmy kimmel and more...), and she is now starting to get a name for herself as a "really good singer" and not being compared to Mariah Carey (mrs carey cannot be compared with anyone, her singing is too perfect). Oprah said to her "A star has been born", which is a true statement, we all have to commend this girl for going this distance with the talent that she has been given (raisin a glass to her), lol, here's a clip of Leona on the Ellen Degeneres Show. By da way her album is really good, go buy it, it is worth the money tracks like "Homeless/Take a bow" and "Footprints in the sand, i would definitely give it a 4star rating.

Album Reviews

YAY! Mariah, Mimi, MC, whatever you wanna call her is releasing her album E=MC2 tomorrow! So I'm gonna be bringing you a nice juicy review of her album, from my perspective ofcourse, so feel free to add your own opinion to this. I'm gonna be picking out the outstanding tracks on the album and the ones that I think don't go down too will.

From now on this will be a regular feature from us, but only on the hottest albums around!

Myspace

I haven't actually got one myself, but it actually shocks me that a huge amount of people (in my experience) are on this as they are wishing/seeking success and fame. One guy I know primarily uses his to showcase his music and he's got a little something about him.

Obviously I know people use it to socialise or whatever, but I don't know I was looking at one unknown artist's myspace that I found in a magazine (www.myspace.com/tawiah incase you're interested) and her musics different, it's cool, especially the song "Broken Heart". She's British aswell. According to the magazine she's one of Mark Ronson's stage "buddies" so atleast she's got connections..

It's just like, will these people's dreams ever get fulfilled, it's kind of sad in a way that so many people want this but they may never get it.

(if people are wanting to showcase their talent post your myspace/music in the comment box)

Never thought I'd say this..

...but I actually think T-Pain is alright. Yes- I am fully aware that he uses some computerized voice when singing lol, but guess what people?? He produces some of his own songs as well lol! Infact I appreciate the music he makes more for other people (rather than his own), so check out these two songs produced by him:

One Chance (ft T-Pain, Plies)- Get On Top
Charlie Wilson (ft T-Pain)- Supa Sexy

These aren't the kind of songs that have deep lyrics, but it's good to listen to if you wanna get hyper.. especially the 2nd one!

edit- I've added the video for the second song.

Weekly Throwback

Yes it's that time again. This week I'm taking it waaaaaaaay back to 1994 with TLC's 'Creep.' The groups first number 1 single taken from their multi-platinum second album 'CrazySexyCool' which is titled after their different personalities with Chilli being sexy and T-Boz being cool, leaving no doubt over who was crazy!
Damn it's hard to believe this song is 14 years old!!

Estelle + Label pressure= changed image?

Well I thought it'd be appropriate to write about this especially since Diva previously made a post about how people change themselves to be accepted by society.

Anyway, we all know our British talent Estelle is trying to make it big in the USA, well according to her record label (Atlantic Records) the only way to achieve this is to change her "tomboy" image

“The American executives are adamant she makes a lot of significant changes,” said a source. “They want rid of her tomboy hair and want her to get her teeth fixed.”

“Estelle is not happy. She feels her teeth and the rest of her look are a big part of her character.”

It's evident that society, specifically the media, tries to make people conform to their ideas of beauty. Personally, I think this is outrageous but it's very common as celebrities are subjected to so much pressure just to stay relevant in the industry. Do you think this is a necessary thing for her to do though.

I respect Estelle refusing to change, and I'll be damned if she does a Beyonce upgrade and starts wearing a big massive weave, killer heels and showing her batty! Lol.. I'm just messing though Beys doing her thing.

Age ain't nothin' but a number

So here is the much-anticpated new video from Madonna with Justin Timberlake. '4 minutes' is a cool track but at nearly 50 some have said that Madonna is too old for this kind of thing and to stop trying to keep up with the young ones. I say why should she? She looks good for her age and has no doubt influenced many of the singers around today. The video is weird tho...

So what do you think has Madonna got another hit on her hands or is it time to get out the zimmerframe?

MRS. H TO DA (MRS. CARTER)

According to sources, Beyonce became Jay z's wifey on (Friday April 5th) but there hasn't been any statements given by either Jay/Beyonce or any close friends or relatives, therefore there isn't any actual confirmation that they've tied the knot. However, there are sources claiming that they took out a marriage liscence, this means that they have to get wed within 60 days, so who knoz what may have happened, or what is happening at the moment. Lets just hope they put these rumours to rest soon because I wanna kno if it's fo'real or not (hope it is), it's about time Bey and Jay decided to take to da aisle, this hot couple have been together since 2002, so it must be love cuz they still together, good luck to them.

CUUUUTE!

This has to be the cutest thing ever! I'm so broke right now and soo pissed because I did have money to get this (didn't see it at the time though).. I'll find a way!

But yeah, this is gonna be a cute thing to wear coming summer. The things that seem to be in fashion at the moment are frills, stripes (again..), FUGULY (imo) tie-die on shoes etc, flowery prints. Looks like MASSIVE sunglasses are gonna be in aswell, a shame that I can't wear it with my tiny face lol..

On upcoming features on fashion I'm gonna pick a celeb that seems to be working their look then find clothes that are similar from high street shops.

Jay Z- I Know

To me, this song is amazing, it could be the fact that its created by one of my favourite producers (Pharrell- The Neptunes) and is combined with Jay z lyrical vibe, or how ecclectic the video is. It features Zoe Kravitz and I must say her fashion is on point.

In this song Jay Z uses drugs as a metaphor for his music. I'm really loving the special effects and that, its weird but it suits the concept.

If you're from Brum Town keep your mouth shut! lol

Apparantly in a recent study to find out about stereotypes, participants were presented with images of people and voice clips. They were asked to rate the accents/images based on how intelligent they thought it was.. and guess what Brummie accents were rated the lowest! The rating was even lower than if the person was silent!! How unfair and mean is that lol! That's a shame, I best watch out when I go uni 'cause people may be thinking I'm sounding dumb lol.

On a positive note our accents don't affect whether someone finds us attractive or not lol.. always look on the bright side of life :p.

Open your eyes please do NOT become a sponge in this society!

Yeah yeah.. I did say that this blog is gonna be predominately about music, celebs etc but I thought I'd just add a little something that happened recently. THE TITLE WILL NOT MAKE SENSE UNTIL U READ ALL OF IT.

I was in my town just shopping with my friends and there was a display board on Psychology, and well it was really interesting.Hardly anyone was reading it so I was thinking whats wrong with you people! (I'll come to explain this later but that was probably for the best..)

The first thing that caught our eye was the "treatment" techniques that Psychiatrists use to use back in the day, one was a suspender chair in which victims were spun around at 100 mph thinking that it would help disorders that effected the nervous system. There was other stuff aswell about the treatment of black people in the late 1970's (USA). One DUMBASS Psychiatrist by the name of Lewis Termans outlined conditions that he "diagnosed" slaves with, one was "Drapetomania" which he said was when slaves wanted to run away- can I get a WTF!!!!! and "Dyasthesia Aethiopisa" which is when they were disobedient. I can NOT beleive they actually had diagnoses for this shit- this is some 1st class FOOLISHNESS! But yeah, the "treatment" for this was "whippin the devil out of them". Another fool, Harry Bailey said that he used black people for psychosurgery experiments because it was "cheaper to use n***ers than cats becausee they were everywhere and cheaper animals". I could not beleive my eyes when I read that. I don't think there are enough words in the dictionary to explain how disgusted I am.

I'm fully aware that this post is long, but I applaud you if you're still reading up to this point (gives lollipop :)). Ok so there was a video saying that Psychologists are frauds and that some of them work with drug companies and just create any old disorder. There were also casestudies of kids that had taken perscription drugs and ended up murdering, or committing suicide. Coming to the part that makes sense with the title, despite all these facts that I found this man was talking some foolishness to me. He was saying that the drugs given to people do not work and basically saying that you can't test whether someone has a disorder or whatever. I totally disagreed because what about brain scans, and he was saying they could've manipulated it. Yeah they COULD'VE but with everything else in the world u can never be too sure, so the best thing is to stop being over paranoid on things that don't require it. I was saying that with depression they've identified a chemical in the bran that can cause it, I can't remember what response he had to that but it was stupid. It's undeniable that the drugs they've given people have actually worked in reducing the symptoms, but he was saying it's all a placebo.. WTF.

Anyway I asked if they had a website so he gave me a leaflet. I looked at it when I got home and my eyes almost popped right out my head because on the back of the leaflet it said "report psychiatric abuse. It's a crime". SO that was their agenda for the display board. This is bad, because I think Psychology has actually helped people (disregarding some of the stuff in the past) and imagine a world where people with actual disorders stop using their medication because of what this man said. Now that would be a recipe for disaster, so all I'm saying is that when you're presented with facts like that always come out with your own conclusion. Don't be easily led.

Weekly Throwback

Welcome 2 the first of our weekly throwback features, where we celebrate music of days gone by. First off I thought we'd start with one of my favourite artists and one of my favourite songs. It is of course the late great Aaliyah with 4 page letter.
Enjoy!!

( I can't help but think she'd be the biggest female in the game if she were still around)

ARE THESE THE ROLE MODELS WE HAVE TO LOOK UP2??

Is this what you want to be like??

Does anyone really know what the look is. A majority of us try to conform towards what we think is the look and what will be the look, but there is a small amount of people who actually want to be an individual but why should it be like this? Is it because of all these movie starz, singers and rap starz who make it seem cool to actually conform to something close to how they live their life style... and when an issue that needs to be talked about like (anorexia), most of them seem to become dilusional and not wanna take the blame for these consequences that have come to being because of what they portray to people like us who grow up looking up to them as role models and then it is all blamed on the "magazines" that are being published. Hold on wait a minute.... who are the people who became famous you are! so as a celebrity you should know that you may or may not be on the cover of a magazine so whatever image you portray to them that's what they are going to show to people like us who actually purchase these magazines.

This is why there is less individuality within all social groups.

So tell me are you gonna remain a conformist or become your own individual self. The followers hardly get noticed...and the leaders always do.....but weak leaders always fall (Britney)....and strong leaders always stay at the top (our father God)... so always keep God as your role model and remember that leaders always rises above all and a weak leader always falls, so lead yourself to individuality and stay at the top.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder..

Since we're on the topic of beauty, I found this really interesting the other day. My aunt gave me (don't worry.. not gonna say my whole life story!) some book called "The Beauty Of Color: Iman, The Ultimate Beauty Guide For Skin Of Color". Long title and wrong spelling of "colour".. well for me, I'm British (BLACK British to be precise). Not hating or anything but notice how the cover displays people that are light skinned- obviously excluding Iman lol, but na it's still a good representation. It's really cool though and it has loads of makeup tips and stuff.

I was looking at it on two seperate occasions with different friends and it was interesting how our views of beauty differed. Basically there was one page that had pics of loads of female models and we were just talking about who we thought looked the prettiest etc and one of my friends picked this one girl and I was thinking WTF! lol. Her features were mismatch and she kind of had a Mr.Potatoe head lol. She wasn't ugly but the girl wasn't exactly the prettiest, there was like MANY to choose from. I know what I'm saying is general knowledge but people kinda forget that stuff. So I dunno if your ugly (no offense intended lol..)you may not be to someone else and I guess if your going around thinking your all that you most defiantly not!

Just playing peeps.. but you get the message. By the way check out the book it's cute.

Model Conspiracy!!

OMG! I love this show.. thanks to the damn internet I already know who wins this series of America's Next Top Model ( :( feel my pain!). There has been a lot of speculation over the past few series where people are thinking that the show is rigged and that there is always a predetermined winner.

WARNING: Avoid if you don't wanna find out who wins.

The videos kinda funny, dunno who made it but the silly little soundeffects make me laugh- VERY over the top. Personally the girl who won is alright, would've preferred Ebony but the fool quit!

Well, in my eyes Tyra can do no wrong anyway, she's an inspiration to many black women as she's transformed into an entrepreneur right before our eyes!

UK Stand UP!!

I actually rate Estelle and it's a shame that she had to emmigrate to the USA to only JUST begin to get the recognition she deserves. Her sophomore album "Shine" was released yesterday in the Uk and although I haven't listened to the songs properly, so far I prefer her debut one.

I don't know what it is but I'm not really feeling the songs off it, the ones I actually like are "Shine" and "More Than Friends". I can relate to the last one which is about two "friends" that act as if their together and some of the comments are totally true! She presents it to you in a funny way; "I think you see me as ur play thing ur Friday to Sunday thing" and "If I wanted to be part-time I'd b workin at a the checkout line", I think every girl can appreciate those lyrics 'cause I think most people have been in that situation lol.

In an interview she said that in the UK there doesn't seem to be a market for her type of music and that the only people who seem to make it big or receiving enough support in this genre are white people such as Amy Winehouse, Adele etc. Sadly enough that is the reality, I'm not discrediting them though because they most defiantly have talent but I wonder why that is. Well I might write a review on her new album if I can be assed. (I know Nyomi probz wants to scream at her computer screen when she sees me use those kind of lines lol!)

My name is...

Allow me to reintroduce myself my name is HOV H-to the.. jokes. Lol Jay-z was wrong for that!
I'm the first poster so yay! Not too sure how I should be writing this but anyways to whoever is reading this "Nevermind" is a collective thing created by me and two other friends (click on our profile if u wanna know more) and basically we're just using this as a way to voice our opinions on things whether that be music, celebs, fashion ETC! The names kinda random still but it suits us just fine. I guess when you think of "nevermind" its something you divert your attention from but with this its the exact opposite. PAY ATTENTION. Expect big things from us lol. We're the young talent of today.. haha...

I know I'm chatting some foolishness but what do you expect it's late.. I'm not actually tired but oh well end of post!

-Haven't actually figured out how to add new authors though.. who knew this thing would be confusing!
